They are one or more of the following:

Knowledge of Pilates movements and/or
Experience with dance, yoga, personal training or group fitness

It was a user friendly online program that extensively covered the material, leaving you with the confidence to teach and share your practice with others. Not all courses prepare you well to teach, this one does. Amanda was extremely knowledgeable and able to pass that knowledge on to you with ease. Even better, she always made herself available to answer any questions, give feed back, or help you in anyway she could. I’m so lucky to find PILATES INSTRUCTOR ACADEMY. Now I already completed all the Pilates equipment training and exams. It took 2 years, but for 4 months I was out country. Also, my English is not very good. There are different program packages you can choose from. First I got the Mat, Reformer, and Anatomy package, after that, I had one equipment at a time. All the courses are online on your schedule. But the course video lectures are amazing, every time to reached out to Zoom with the instructor was great, and the feedback was wonderful! This course is by far the best online training course I have taken. Immediately upon completing the registration process, I received a call from Carrie to let me know that there are real people administering the course. I appreciated the call. The layout of the program made it easy to follow so the students know exactly what is expected of them as they move through the training. I just completed my online mat certification and I absolutely loved it! The trainings are a great mix of foundations, anatomy, movements and stretching. I love the focus on mind body connection instead of just putting clients through a "tough sweat". Wow, did I make a great decision! I have been involved with pilates for over 20 years and always wanted to become a certified instructor. This course is amazing because so much thought went into layering the learning so you can truly absorb the information.I feel very confident in knowing all aspects from anatomy, bio-mechanics, breaking down exercises to prep movements and most importantly, how to cue effectively to participants in classes. Amanda is a master at teaching how to cue a pilates exercise. You can actually close your eyes and she will paint a vision with her words as to what each exercise looks and feels like. Amazing. I am glad I found Pilates Instructor Academy online. Amanda and Carrie has been very helpful for the start. They always did their best to accommodate what I need. The courses are taught in details but then structured in such a way that you would not be too overwhelmed. There are many new information and concept that was given that I didn't know before though I took some pilates instructor courses prior to this. Amanda always answered any questions that I had in a short time period. Carrie always helped me with technical problem due to bad wi-fi connection in here. Even though this is all virtual she is readily available to ask questions and is very sincere about you learning and understanding the information. The classes are full of quality information but given the self pace of the class it is definitely doable. I would watch the videos more than once! I also loved the classes for your own practice. They are so helpful and a good workout.

I’ve taken both the Anatomy class and the Comprehensive Pilates Mat class through Pilates Instructor Academy. I chose this program as it worked with my Ace certification and I could work on this certification while working full time. It fit perfectly with my schedule as the classes are self-paced. I did the online mat certification, which was amazingly designed and taught by Amanda. Concepts were illustrated clearly, supported by anatomic and physiologic explanations. For any assignment or questions I had, feedback was given with details in order to know how to progress. This has been a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this class !!

FIVE PLUS STARS!! Excellent Pilates training! Amanda is a wonderful teacher. She explains each concept clearly and in detail. It was exactly the training I was looking for, a training with substance that I could do at my own pace. Carrie has been a passionate and committed fitness entrepreneur since 1986, and has experience with all types of group fitness, personal training and especially Pilates. After obtaining her graduate degree, she felt compelled to invest even more in the world of fitness, which led her to open a Pilates studio in Overland Park, KS, in 2000. She grew that company into the largest Pilates studio in Kansas, with a staff of up to 18 people serving over 300 clients per week. Will PIA's Pilates Online Certification Prepare me to Teach Pilates classes?

YES! PIA's Online Pilates Teacher Certifications provide everything you need to teach safe, effective and fun Pilates mat, Reformer and even full Pilates equipment classes to a variety of participants of varying skill. The courses are 100% online, so you can study at your own pace, on your own schedule and in your own home.

How long do I have to complete my Online Pilates Teacher Certification?

You can take up to 1 year to complete your Online Pilates Mat Teacher Certification, 18 months to complete your Online Pilates Mat, Anatomy and Reformer and up 2 years for your 255 hour Online Pilates Mat, Anatomy and Full Equipment Teacher Certification. However, we've found that most people do not need that much time to complete their certifications.

Expiration Date Extension Policy:

We can offer a 2 month extension at no charge for those customers who need a bit more time. You MUST request an extension BEFORE the expiration date.

Why do I need to be pre-approved for my Online Pilates Certification?

Investing in a Pilates Mat Teacher Certification is a big decision. We want 100% of our customers to successfully complete our Pilates Certification courses and have a great experience while doing so! They are knowledge of Pilates movements and/or experience as a group fitness, dance or yoga instructor as well as a basic understanding of anatomy.

I don't live near a Pilates studio. How do I get my practice hours?

Online Pilates Mat Teacher Certification:

If you are taking the Online Pilates Mat Teacher Certification, you don't need to live near a studio. You can do 100% of the course work at home on your own mat! The course includes 10 pre-recorded Pilates mat classes ranging from beginning level to advanced. You can watch these courses and take notes using our Observation Notes sheet to meet the observation requirement. You can participate in the instructor led work out for the self-practice requirement.

Online Pilates Reformer and Equipment Teacher Certification:

If you are taking the Online Reformer and/or Comprehensive Equipment Certification, you will need access to Pilates equipment to complete the course. This can be done on Pilates equipment in your home studio or a local Pilates studio, gym or fitness center. If needed, we can work with you to find a suitable studio near you to support your certification.

Are your certifications NPCP (PMA) Pilates Certifications?

NO. Pilates Instructor Academy© is a private company offering Pilates teacher training programs and certifications for Pilates Mat, Reformer and Comprehensive Pilates Equipment teachers. Neither the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) nor the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) trains instructors to teach. The NPCP offers an exam that awards their title of Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT). In order to sit for the NPCP (PMA) exam, you must complete at least 450 hours of Pilates teacher training*. This 450 hour training minimum must include mat, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Pilates Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and the Magic Circle. If your goal is to take the NPCP (PMA) Pilates certification exam, your PIA Comprehensive Pilates Equipment Teacher Certification is a total of 505 hours (both in-person and online formats), and will fully prepare you to take the NPCP (PMA) exam.

*IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NPCP (PMA) PILATES CERTIFICATION-the NPCP (PMA) does not recognize mat and Reformer-only Pilates certifications.

What is your Policy for Cancellations and Refunds?

What are the System Requirements for Online Pilates Teacher Training?

A High Speed Internet Connection is required to fully experience our online learning materials in the manner they were intended.

Important Smartphone User Note: While it may be possible to register for and view these online programs on a smartphone, WE STRONGLY DISCOURAGE USING A SMARTPHONE WITH THIS PROGRAM.
