Pilates Teacher Training Solutions - Help and FAQ's

What is the difference between PBPIA Turn-Key Studio Licensee and a PBPIA Customized Curriculum Solution?

PBPIA Licensees are independent studios and fitness centers across the country offering PBPIA licensed Pilates teacher training courses.  PBPIA provides Licensees thorough training on how to run Pilates teacher training business.  Licensees offer comprehensive Pilates teacher training at prices set by PBPIA.  We handle marketing, scheduling through a central website, and customer payment collection.  Licensees receive unlimited support on workshops and business management.  Licensees pay an upfront fee as well as 30% of all revenue generated from PBPIA workshops.

Custom Curriculum Solution is just our training materials, with your studio or business logo.  We charge a flat fee for the workshop materials, and initial training on how to set up your teacher training program.  You can choose from Mat, Reformer, and/or Comprehensive.  You handle the marketing, scheduling, pricing, and payment collection.  Ongoing support is not included, but can be purchased by the hour.

Is the PBPIA teacher training curriculum classical or contemporary Pilates?

PBPIA’s Pilates teacher training is contemporary, grounded in exercise-science, and focused on safe biomechanics.  A review of the classical mat order and progressions is included in our comprehensive mat curriculum.  Some historical exercises are examined for their safety considerations, but we have chosen to omit these exercises due to the high risk of injury to the general public.  Our education is based on a college curriculum model (starting with 100 level courses, followed by 200 level courses and then 300 and 400 level courses).  Graduates of the full 500 hour comprehensive Pilates instructor certificate will be completely prepared to sit for the Pilates Method Alliance-Certified Pilates Teacher exam (PMA-CPT).

Does PBPIA Pilates teacher training programs qualify for the PMA Exam?

The PMA requires a minimum of 450 hours of comprehensive equipment training to qualify for the PMA-CPT.  The PMA does not recognize mat and/or reformer only training.
