Pilates Instructor Academy offers a course of study for becoming a Certified Pilates Equipment Instructor.  The PIA’s Equipment Instructor curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the movements and equipment of the Pilates Exercise method.  The Comprehensive Equipment program includes Pilates Mat, Anatomy and Biomechanics, Reformer, Cadillac (Trapeze Table), Wunda Chair and Barrels workshops, plus a 300 hour student teaching apprenticeship.  Graduates of the full 500 hour comprehensive Pilates instructor certificate are will be completely prepared to sit for the National Pilates Certification Program-Certified Pilates Teacher exam (formerly PMA-CPT), the ONLY non-profit, third party, NCCA accredited national Pilates instructor certification.

  • Lecture - 57 hours

  • Prerequisites
    • Complete Comprehensive Pilates Mat Teacher Training (Mat 101 and Mat 102) or comparable program
    • Complete 201 Anatomy and Biomechanics for Movement Instructors Online Training Course
    • Complete 301 Reformer Training
  • Cost: $5,349 total if paid in one payment PLUS $349 for 201W Anatomy & Biomechanics for Movement Instructors Online (separate payment)

302A: Pilates Comprehensive Instructor Education Exam

During this three hour segment of the instructor education process you will demonstrate your knowledge of the Pilates movements for the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wunda Chair and Barrels in both a written and practical exam. Additionally, you will be required to research and demonstrate two movements not taught in the course.

302B: Comprehensive Pilates Equipment Practice Teaching

Upon successful completion of the 301, 302 and 303Lecture, Self Practice, Observation, and both Written and Practical Exams, you will begin the 300 hour Comprehensive Pilates Instructor Education Apprenticeship. This is a fully supervised, paid apprenticeship. There is no cost to you, as an apprentice Pilates teacher, you will be paid at least the current federal minimum wage, although apprentice pay may vary depending on location.

  • Communication skills
  • Payment collection
  • Managing client schedules

Your practice teaching hours will be scheduled directly with your instructor/host studio as fits your schedule

Our courses are approved for CEC's for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP - formerly the PMA)
